One of the advantages of PVC is its low carbon content. Therefore, on combustion it releases less carbon dioxide (CO2) than coal.

PVC, together with other plastics, makes the cost of fuel for the incineration of urban residues unnecessary.

In accordance with the European laws (CE Directives CE 89/369 and 429), which are also in force in Spain, incinerators of urban wastes and residues, are by law required to have smoke filtration systems in order to suppress acidic gasses.

The Thermal recovery of waste has two advantages: it recovers energy in the form of  vapor or electricity, and it reduces the volume of waste.
